THANKS FROM PRECIOUS BLOOD PARISH

Over 2009, our generous parishioners have contributed $11,580.00 to our sharing Parish, Precious Blood. Here is an excerpt from a letter of thanks Father George Roy, the pastor, recently sent us:

“We are very grateful for your continued support and faith in our community here at Precious Blood.”

“Thank for your generosity over the years. If it weren’t for our sharing Parishes, we would have closed long ago. I hope that some day this Church will be on the sharing rather than the receiving end. In the meantime, with your help, we will continue ministering here on the West side. May God bless you this Christmas season, and may he grant you many blessings.

“Yours in Christ, Father George Roy, O.M.I., pastor.”

NEW YEAR’S DAY, SOLEMNITY OF MARY, MOTHER OF GOD

This Friday is not only New Year’s Day, but is also the Solemnity of Mary and a holy day of obligation.

Last Friday, on Christmas, we honored the Lord for his birth among us. This Friday, we honor the one who gave him birth, his Mother, Mary. We know that Mary is the Mother and the Model of the Church. As she brought Christ to birth physically, so are we called to bring him to birth spiritually. We do this in many ways. But especially when we are instruments of Christ’s peace to others. (New Year’s Day is also the World Day of Prayer for Peace.) What a wonderful New Year’s resolution: that each day of 2010 each of us will strive to be an instrument of Christ’s peace to all whom we meet!

NEW YEAR’S EVE & DAY MASS SCHEDULE
New Year’s Eve: 5:15
New Year’s Day: 8:30 & 10:30

A GENTLE REMINDER

If you have not as yet had an opportunity to make your Christmas offering to Saint Joseph’s, there is still time. Also, due to the extraordinary expense we will incur in repairing the Parish School’s foundation, we ask that you consider whether you are in a position to increase your gift this year. As always, thank you so very much for whatever you are able to do.

Saint Joseph, pray for us, and let us pray for one another!
